Green School Global Citizenship Code
Inequality is so unfair,
Let’s get together and show we care.
Let’s try to buy fair trade each day,
A small bit of “change” goes a long, long way.
Sean McMahon 6th class
From March 1st to March 15th our school has been celebrating Fair Trade Fortnight here in school. Children have been asked to be more aware of products that are Fair Trade and to encourage their families to try to purchase these products when possible.
As part of our activities towards our sixth Green Flag for Global Citizenship & Litter and Waste we held our second annual Intercultural Day on February 17th. On the day we celebrated students from different countries who now make Ireland their home. There are 13 countries represented in our school and today we put on a show celebrating their native cultures with singing and dancing. Parents were invited in and a huge crowd showed up. Many also brought native foods with them and everyone who attended agreed that the day was a huge success. A big thank you to all the students who performed on the day and to all the parents who came in to our school and who brought beautiful clothes and foods with them.

Our Green Schools Code
This is a litter free zone,
But I can’t keep it on my own!
To be clean is cool,
Let’s be proud of our school.
On Friday November 14th we gave our Christmas shoeboxes to Team Hope. These shoeboxes are being sent to children who are less fortunate and will ensure that they will all receive a gift this Christmas. We would like to thank all of the boys who donated shoeboxes with toys and gifts this year.
Our local Litter Warden came to visit our school and talk to the childen about the importance of recycling and not littering in November 2014.
We also celebrated an Intercultual Day in 2014. To view photos from this great day click here.
