The school, which is located in Gilroy Ave., was built in 1959 and replaced the old Edenderry Boys' National School which was built in 1835.
The first principal of Scoil Muire Banríon was Mr John P Keane. He retired in 1975 and then Mr Eddie Moran took up the reins until 1978 when the current principal, Mr Seán Fitzgerald took over. |

In the early nineteen sixties the school was one of the few schools that had a purpose built Assembly Hall.
In the fifty years of our existence there have been many changes both in personnel, teaching methods, curriculum but none more so than in the introduction of ICT.
Currently all mainstream class rooms have an Interactive White Board.
As part of our remembrance of the first day of this school (31 Aug 1959), all classes re-enacted that first walk from the old BNS to the new school in Gilroy Ave.
